DRAWING SPRING 23

My drawing studies were more experimental than educational: I have mainly been working on portraits and expressive drawing, with repetetive drawing practices and line work.
Above are all the final products of the spring, each with a different style and expression. Ive worked to find an inbetween of great detail and expressive strokes.
Working on my creativity rather than skill improvement really helped me to think in a bigger picture, and have started working towards larger concepts.

#PORTRAIT PRACTICE  Not only was this practice very beneficial for space and proportion because I mostly worked white on black paper, it was also super helpful to work portrait practice on myself before other people. I feel it can be difficult either way, but working with youself as a more familiar model is a great start. Final piece was 18 x 24 done with prisma coloured pencils and charcoal.
#VINTAGE INSPIRED COMICThis project was one of my favorite drawings as of recent, it was really inspiring and helped me to be super creative. I based it on a real trip to palm springs, very embelished, but I appreciated being able to have gone there and basing my drawings off of a real place and realistic vibes. These pieces were all 18 x 24, and done with india ink. The images pictured on the right are all final drafts from the creative process#ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONSThis study was done with tracing paper, where I went around my local town and buildings and traced and found interesting patterns. I continued to experiment with gestural marks moving my arms in different ways creating marks that might look interesting layered together and with different materials and wash. Overal semi-proud of the final product.
#PORTRAITUREworking with models and colored pencil layering I practiced no erasing and monocrome studies, as well as mixing very few colors for contrast. I loved this study, I learned it was a different feeling working with models and being a model as well, but it was sort of a refreshing moment doing something new to me, which is something I appreciate more often than not. In whole I valued this work and practice, which will continue into the future.
